AGENT BEATRICE LIZZIE CORDER turns on the tape to record.
"I'm here at the cemetary where the woman, the hardware and autoparts cashier are buried. This time I have the Spirit Talker app instead of the
Ovilus this time. I am now going to turn on the REM Pod."
She does so and places it an armslength in front on her.
"Is there anyone who would like to speak with me?"
The app goes, "My name is Melissa.".
"Hi, Melissa. Is there anything you would like to tell me about yourself?"
"I'm in my thirties."
"Where did you come from, Melissa?"
"I came from work."
"What was your job?"
"Bed and Breakfast."
"Where did you work at?"
"Nightinvale."
"Did something happen while you were working, Melissa?"
"I got ran over."
"Do you know how you got ran over?"
"Car."
"Do you remember anything else?"
"He was wearing a red flannel."
"Are you talking about the driver?"
"Scarecrow."
"Scarecrow... Do you know anything about the scarecrow you saw?"
"Thomas."
"His name is Thomas? ...Can you tell me more about Thomas?"
"We were once in an relationship."
"Is he still alive?"
"He killed himself."
Then the recorder picked up footsteps moving closer to AGENT CORDER. She stands up and waits. She then carefully picks up the REM Pod and turns it off. She looks around with steady breaths.
(whispering)
"Okay..."
She sighs.
(in a quiter voice)
"Melissa, you can rest now and thank you for talking with me."
"It was my pleasure and thank you, too."
She smiles and turns off the Spirit Talker app.
"And to any other spirits, you're not allowed to attach to me and follow me out of the cemetary. You are to stay here and rest.
